A world of its own,
high on the Kemmelberg.

The Shepherds Farm is aprivate country estate made for time spent together.

One group at a time.
One estate entirely your own.

Set on the southern slope, the Farm looks out across the fields of French Flanders. Nine bedrooms are spread across three houses, with gardens, tables and gathering places in between. Come with family. Bring friends. Celebrate something, or nothing in particular.

Enquire about your stay

One house, spread across an estate.

The Shepherds Farm brings together nine bedrooms for up to 23 guests across Provence Lodge, Western Farmhouse and Tuscan Barn. The houses sit at different levels of the hillside, joined by gardens, paths and the places where everyone gathers.

Western Farmhouse occupies the highest point, with woodland behind and the valley ahead. Provence Lodge forms a passage between the pool garden and Walled Potager. The Barn steps down the slope near arrival and opens towards the garden. Each has its own character; together, they live as one house.

At the open heart, the pool reflects the trees and sky. Further west, the Potager and Nordic Stables complete the estate before the landscape takes over again. The whole place belongs to one group at a time.

How looked after
would you like to be?

Every stay begins with the same thing:
the gate closes and the entire estate is yours.

Things worth remembering

Stories about the Farm, interiors, gardens, food, wine, makers, Heuvelland and places we genuinely like.

The Journal gives more room to the stories behind the place: how the Barn was made, why a house should be collected rather than decorated, and the people behind objects we live with.

We publish when something is worth keeping. That may be a garden changing with the season, a table set for no particular reason or somewhere beyond the gate that deserves the detour.

When the days begin to open up

The difference is not a longer list of things done. It is what happens once nobody is in a hurry.

The making of
the Tuscan Barn

The Barn began with an old agricultural building and a simple question: how should a room feel when everyone has finally found their way to it?

Collected, not decorated

The Shepherds Farm was not completed from a singlemood board. It has grown roomby room, through things found, made and kept for the simple reason that they felt right.

Notes from the Kemmelberg

From the southern slopes of the Kemmelberg, the ground falls away towards French Flanders. The view is far-reaching, but the landscape is felt most clearly one step beyond the gate.

The private estate of The Shepherds Farm is like a collection of islands. Rooms, spaces, gardens, pastures, and intimate hideaways that together tell a single story: of simplicity and refinement, of grounding and slowing down, of the art of anticipating, sharing, and experiencing.

Together, these distinct places create an experience that fully draws you in. A world where time loosens its grip. Where enjoyment is not a goal, but a natural state of being.

The Story

The Shepherd’s Farm is shaped by many hands and one shared dream. Artisans, artists, and makers have left their mark, weaving a story that cannot be replicated, a mosaic of influences that gives this place its singular character.

Letters from Heuvelland

We don’t write often, but when we do, it’s because there is something beautiful to share.

Occasionally, there is
something worth writing
home about.

A room taking shape. A bottle worth remembering. The first dahlias. Somewhere particularly good for lunch.
We do not write often. Only when there is something to say.
