WALLED POTAGER

From garden to table.

Lunch has a way of lasting longer here.

A potager is a kitchen garden, but this one is also one of the estate’s most sheltered outdoor rooms. Old brick walls hold herbs, vegetables, fruit and flowers close to Provence Lodge, while the open side keeps the long view south.

Someone lights the OFYR. Plates arrive through the doors of the Lodge. The table fills gradually, as it tends to when preparing the meal is part of being together.

Beneath it, a hand-painted tiled floor is covered with oversized vegetables. Stone gives way to colour, colour to clay pavers and planting; even in winter, the garden remains underfoot.
